Investment fraud is on everyone's mind lately, and seniors are victimized more than any other age group.

If you've got a parent or older-generation family member who isn't paying much attention to his or her investments, request duplicate copies of the monthly statements. While the vast majority of investment professionals are completely above board, some take advantage of senior citizens. Dupl… Continue

There is still time to make charitable contributions

Charitable contributions are down because families and other donors are strapped. So if you can spare money or appreciated securities, this is an important time to help a worthy charity. As long as you mail the check or make a denotation on your credit card before January 1, you'll earn a deduction for this year even if the check doesn't clear until next year or the charge doesn't appear on your st… Continue

Hi Jonathan,

Thanks you for your invitation. I have enjoyed your specials on PBS and found them very helpful. I am a happily married father in my late 50's with two teenage sons approaching college. I'm a Harvard grad with and also attended the Carroll School of Management at BC. Linda, my wife, is a Wheaton and BU grad.

We've saved about 50 k for the kids education and are apprehensive about college expenses. Our 529s were a letdown and we were also sandwich victims in that we needed to assist our parents.

I am also trying to make sense out of our retirement prospects in this fickle market like most people my age.

We look forward to trading observations, tips and the like with other
interested parties.
