If there are people in your life who would suffer financially from your demise, then you need life insurance. If you've got kinds, you probably need a lot of it - $1 million is not an uncommon need for a breadwinner with a couple of kids. Charitable contributions are down because families and other donors are strapped. So if you can spare money or appreciated securities, this is an important time to help a worthy charity. Thanks you for your invitation. I have enjoyed your specials on PBS and found them very helpful. I am a happily married father in my late 50's with two teenage sons approaching college. I'm a Harvard grad with and also attended the Carroll School of Management at BC. Linda, my wife, is a Wheaton and BU grad.
We've saved about 50 k for the kids education and are apprehensive about college expenses. Our 529s were a letdown and we were also sandwich victims in that we needed to assist our parents.
I am also trying to make sense out of our retirement prospects in this fickle market like most people my age.
We look forward to trading observations, tips and the like with other
interested parties.
