LifeDialog Terms of Use
To make this the best possible environment for all members, we ask that everyone follow some basic guidelines. We'll do our part to ensure the LifeDialog Network remains a constructive and supportive place, but we need your help in the following areas:
Member Profiles
The LifeDialog Network is intended to be a community of
individuals sharing ideas and making connections with others.
Therefore, your profile on the Network should be about you – it’s
not a profile for your company. Your profile should contain a
picture of you, and should show your name – not your company name
and your logo.
Spam
Please don't spam.
What is spam? Spam is posting the same message repeatedly across the network. Spam is writing the same post or comment over and over again. Spam is sending the same message to multiple members. Spam is using the network to try and sell or rpomote services or products. You get the picture.
We take a hard line on spam unwanted solicitation and inappropriate language. If you are reported or deemed by us to be a spammer, we may ban you, without warning, from future participation in the LifeDialog Network.
Forum and Blog Posts
The LifeDialog Network is a place to share information about
things that are important to you in your life, things that we call
significant life events. Please keep your comments and discussion
postings on topic, rated PG-13, spam free, and appropriate for a
mixed audience. We take a hard line view on spam and inappropriate
language. If you are reported or deemed by us to be in conflict
with these standards, we may ban you from future participation in
the LifeDialog Network.
Photos and Videos
The LifeDialog Network is a place to share information about
things that are important to you in your life, things that we call
significant life events. This includes the sharing of videos and
photos. Please make sure that you have permission to use and
distribute any videos or photos that you post on LifeDialog.
Please make sure that your videos and photos are rated PG-13, are
spam free, and appropriate for a mixed audience. We take a hard
line view on spam, inappropriate language and visuals. If you are
reported or deemed by us to be in conflict with these standards, we
may ban you from future participation in the LifeDialog
Network.
Advertising and Promotion
The good news – If you've got something to say that is directly
relevant to the conversation at hand, we encourage you to tell
folks about it on the LifeDialog Network!
The bad news – advertisements and promotions to members – such as asking for donations, or telling everyone about ways to make money fast on the Internet – things that you may think are relevant to everyone, simply aren't!
We will delete content that is promotional in nature and may ban members who are abusing the Network from future participation.
Insults and Harassment
Respectfully disagreeing with someone – including us – in a
constructive, well-reasoned manner is not only welcomed, but
encouraged. We can't get better if we don't have thoughtful,
constructive feedback from you about your life experiences. That's
why we're here.
On the other hand, if you're here to find an outlet for your anger or frustration, or if you desire to call us or anyone else on the Network IDIOTS (IN ALL CAPS) over and over again, this isn't the right place to do it! Instead, drop us a note or call us to get whatever it is off your chest. We do read every email that comes in. We will get the message loud and clear when you are unhappy.
We take threatening, unconstructive, toxic, profane, or generally abusive people very seriously and will ban them quickly when we encounter them. Even if you have a right to be angry or frustrated, yelling at us or other members of the Network on-line isn't helpful and won't get you what you want – just like in the real world.
If You've Been Banned from Our Network
If you've been banned from LifeDialog or had a comment
deleted by us and you think we are in error, by all means let us
know. We'll always take another look at the specific case and
respond at least once to your concerns.
Unfortunately, we aren't able to publicly handle appeals or articulate reasons for banning someone. These topics have a tendency to devolve into the realm of unconstructive on-line shouting matches that take up a lot of time and don't end well. As a result, we'll remove discussions and blog posts asking for public comment on banning.
We recognize that LifeDialog may not be for everyone. If our Terms of Service or these few basic rules above aren't going to work for you, we understand. We dislike having to ban people or delete inappropriate content, so if you don't think that this Network is going to work for you upfront, it's much better for all of us to know it now.
Thanks for your time. We look forward to your active participation in the LifeDialog Network.
