My friend has a 3 year old and a 6 month old baby. She and her husband are taking them across the state to Cocoa Beach for vacation this summer. Any tips to make the week easier for her? I'm useless in this department :)
When my kids were that age, I found it best to try to remember there are limitations on what little ones can do. Rushing from place to place and trying to cram 100 "fun" activities into one week just made them crabby and whiny (not to mention my husband and I). For my kids it was best to plan an activity in the morning, relax by the pool in the afternoon and keep them to their usual nap schedule, normal eating times etc. Needless to say, if you are traveling a lot in the car, bring your usual arsenal...toys, snacks, dvds etc. I remember desperately trying to keep my 9-month old busy with a Kleenex box on one trip...he'd pull one tissue out, wave it, crumple it, and laugh. He then repeated that 150 times. We do what we need to do for peace in the car! :)
100 "fun" activities would make me pretty crabby too. Were you able to actually relax by the pool, or did you find you spent most of your time entertaining them? What activities could you give them that allowed you and your husband to relax?
My friend just got back from the trip. Apparently, the drive to their destination was fine. The ride back seemed long--and of course included a short side trip into downtown Disney, but they all came through unscathed :)

Has becoming divorced or suddenly single changed your view of joint finances? Has it made you more or less likely to share bank accounts and credit cards with a significant other?
The Credit CARD Act of 2009 is a 45 page long amendment to the Truth in Lending Act that makes for a wonderful cat bed—at least, that’s what my cats seem to think as they both stretch out luxuriously on its pages. And that’s fine for them, after all…
